Several public schools in Washington, D.C., yesterday received through the mail letters that contained a suspicious substance. Authorities determined that the substance was not hazardous. While there have been no such incidents here at ACPS, our priority is to provide the safest learning environment possible for our students and a secure work environment for our staff. All ACPS employees and schools were provided with appropriate safety procedures last night and this morning in the event of receipt of any suspicious letters or packages. All school personnel were briefed on precautionary measures and what steps to take in the event of this kind of emergency.
